Durant Hotel - Flint Journal 1.9.1984.pn

I noticed the great historical building in disrepair. Dedicated to the renovation and preservation of historic Flint monuments, I joined Flint Jaycees, Genesee County Historical Society, and Alfred P. Sloan Museum. From there, I was appointed to the Carriage Town Commission where we delineated boundaries, did restorations, dedicated historical markings.

I love it when a plan comes together. So I was elated to see the Durant restored. We rebuilt an old walking bridge across the Flint River, and erected statues of several GM founders. We also turned the closed carriage factories into a museum, gift shop, and a collection of fashionable apartments.
